René Heyde wraps up his 3,800km journey

3,800 kilometres and 36 days later René Heyde has successfully cycled from Perth to Geelong, near Melbourne, raising almost $25,000 for Cholmondeley Children’s Centre. What an amazing accomplishment!

Thank you so much René and the wider Heyde family from everyone at Cholmondeley Children’s Centre, your support will have a significant impact on the lives of so many of our Canterbury tamariki.

You have shown our tamariki how to dream big and anything is possible if you put your mind to it. They have thoroughly enjoyed following your journey here at Cholmondeley and you have inspired them to chase their dreams.

Thank you also to everyone who shared kind words with René or donated towards his ride. Your support has kept him motivated throughout the journey and helped him make it across the finish line.

To encourage René at the end of his journey, Cholmondeley’s Board Chair Nettles Lamont cycled the final leg with him to celebrate his last day.
