Cholmondeley (pronounced Chum-ley) offers children short term and emergency respite
during times of stress or crisis in the home.
A little bit
about us
Cholmondeley provides short-term respite care for children aged 3 - 12 years, (5 - 12 while at Living Springs) with the aim of alleviating immediate family pressures which exist for children and their parents when the usual supports are not enough or not available.
Can we help?
Our care is centred on the child, enabling them to celebrate the experience of childhood.
Through integrating the two key aspects of care and education we give children a voice, allow them to be themselves, help them to discover their strengths, learn new skills and develop confidence, ultimately becoming more resilient to the challenges they may face.
Successful outcomes come from empowering children and their families in an on-going way. For many children and families we may become part of a wider network, that includes extended family, continuing to provide support as and when it is required.
We need your
support
Cholmondeley is a 'true blue' registered childrens charity based in Canterbury, supported primarily by the community, allowing decisions to be made at a local level.
Every year it costs around $1.5 million to keep Cholmondeley operating.
We have cared for more than 25,500 children, over 87 years, and have an undying commitment to the value of today's children.
